Urban Crises Learning Coordinator at Habitat for Humanity Haiti

Description du poste:

The Urban Crises Learning Coordinator's role will be to gather and document learning from urban stakeholders in Haiti, to facilitate discussions that contribute to the generation of new approaches and practices around urban humanitarian response, and to share and disseminate project findings locally and globally.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Input:
• Shape related local level objectives coherent with the global project objectives, in coordination with the Urban Crises Learning Manager and consortium members.
• Work closely with the Urban Crises Learning Manager to develop the methodology for data collection and analysis.
• Monitor, analyse, collate and consolidate documented evidence from project partners and other stakeholders, documenting these with quality, relevance and rigour.
• Contribute to the design of the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework and the method for the collection of learning.
• Ensure the regular and timely technical input, meeting deadlines in accordance with the work plan.
• Identify or arrange local events, initiatives, forums and other opportunities to collect and share learning, including advocacy, research or coordination initiatives where appropriate.
• Support the Urban Crises Learning Manager and consortium partners with input to the Sphere Project team as necessary.
• Contribute to the review and editing of project materials for publication locally and globally as necessary.

Communications:
• Represent, communicate and coordinate on behalf of the consortium with external stakeholders, municipal, government authorities and forums in Haiti.
• Provide inputs to regular consortium meetings as necessary.
• Manage local communications between HFH, Oxfam, other partners and stakeholders.
• Liaise frequently and regularly with the Urban Crises Learning Manager concerning project development, identification of and engagement with key stakeholders, documenting of evidence and the organisation of events.

Events and travel:
• In coordination with Oxfam, organise and provide facilitation at a mid – project learning event and an end of project learning event, including local urban stakeholders in order to create a forum for the generation and sharing and gathering of learning.
• Prepare for, attend and follow up from a briefing at the project start-up meeting and the end-of-project round table meeting.
• Arrange personal travel to attend forums, meetings and to field locations as necessary.
• Host the Urban Crises Learning Manager and DPUs Urban Technical Adviser during their visits to the field, including key introductions, arranging accommodation and travel.

Reporting:
• Monitor, anticipate and coordinate budget variations working closely with the HFH GB Programme Team.
• Working closely with the HFH GB Programme Team, provide regular narrative and financial reports.
• Contribute to further fundraising for the project where opportunities arise.

Qualifications requises:

Essential
• Education to post graduate level in disaster management, development practice or equivalent experience in a relate field.
• Experience of projects involving several partner organisations.
• Ability to facilitate the collection, collation and consolidation of evidence through many different actors in several locations.
• Good written French and English, analytical and editing skills to record and communicate in country learning.
• Clear verbal and written communication with a diverse range of stakeholders including chairing of meetings and facilitation of learning events.
• Excellent networking skills.
• Ability to prioritise own workload, to work independently, to work to deadlines and enable others to do the same.
• Understanding of the current state of the humanitarian sector.
• Knowledge of humanitarian response and management, urban design and development.
• Ability to travel nationally where appropriate for the project several times per year.

Desirable
• Post graduate research in humanitarian response or urban development.
• Training in research methodologies.
• Research experience.
• Experience of working closely with INGOs and academic institutions.
• Experience of coordination or supervisory responsibilities.
• Knowledge of specific approaches to humanitarian response in urban areas such as area based approaches, tenure issues, market support, municipal infrastructure rehabilitation, municipal disaster management and preparedness.
• Published papers in a related subject area.

The consortium will focus on responses to natural hazards in urban areas, collecting learning and challenging existing approaches to produce innovative and evidence-based thinking on urban crises grounded in practical reality.
